Position Description

In Vitro Toxicology Manager - Irvine

Plans, directs and coordinates the operational and financial activities of the In Vitro Toxicology laboratory in Irvine. Establishes department goals by gathering pertinent business, financial, service, and operations information; identifying and evaluating trends and options; choosing a course of action; defining objectives; and evaluating outcomes.  Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements/capacity; preparing annual capital and expense budgets; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; and initiating corrective actions. Confirms quality systems are being applied in the performance and documentation of laboratory studies by assuring compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements and assuring test methods meet specified protocol or SOP requirements, are scientifically sound and are performed error-free.  Tracks, monitors, recommends and implements improvement activities to achieve annual first pass yield objectives. Participates in audits by clients or regulatory bodies.  Meets and/or exceeds client expectations by providing exceptional customer service – e.g., timely communications to client inquiries/demands, anticipating client needs, responding to internal (Associate) requests for other client inquiries. Analyzes and resolves internal and/or external delays; identifies trends; and recommends improvements.  Tracks, monitors, recommends and implements improvement activities to achieve annual on-time objectives. 

Education

Bachelor’s degree in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, toxicology or a related scientific discipline. Master’s degree preferred.

Experience

8-10 years related laboratory experience and 5 years supervisory experience. Profit and loss experience required.  Requires the ability to analyze data and make sound scientific decisions.
